Week 81 – Getting good at job

 ·  β˜• 7 min read

Having difficulty in thinking the intro of this blog, well guess what? Dear brain, this isn’t a book I can get away with writing almost anything that I want 😎

Personal Highlights

This week wasn’t that great in terms of keeping up with my daily to-dos, because most of the week was spent working and responding to others.

Mindfulness

  • Journaling
    This went great as usual!

  • Meditation
I decided to let go of meditation for now and will stop thinking about not being able to do it. I will get to it in the future.

For now, I feel like I already have a lot of things in my morning routine and even though I would love to meditate, I don’t think I should think of it as an active to-do thing in my list. I will do it whenever I feel.

Fitness

  • Morning Run
Just trying my best to not skip two days in a row πŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Learning

  • Reading
I started reading this book called β€˜Getting things done, but I haven’t been reading as much as I should. Not being able to take time out for reading seems to be the no.1 reason for failing to read daily and by the time I go to bed at night, I feel very tired and can only read like a page or two before falling asleep.

  • Coding
I maintained my streak and hit the 30 days of consistency mark
    jan 2nd week coding (2).gif

BUT … I haven’t been doing it Dil se (with heart)

What I mean by it is I have been practicing just for the sake of maintaining my streak and not out of curiosity or excitement.

Now, even though that sucks, I still think it’s better than not practicing at all, and so I will continue doing the same for the coming week and hopefully will put a bit more of my heart into it.

Optimization and Organization

I got an Alarm clock this week.

I know I said in one of my blogs from 2020 that I don’t need alarms to wake up and while that is still true for the nights when I get 8 hours of sleep, I still end up using the alarm just to get out of my bed and having a clock dedicated to it might seem like a boomer thing to do but

using it results in me not checking my phone early in the morning after waking up and hence a lot of time is saved πŸ€Έβ€β™‚οΈ

Job Update

I have been optimizing the way I approach my work.

Last week I was restricting myself to working on just one program at a time and this week it was to take inputs from other team members in a way that saves time and I also tried to deploy something which makes downloading footage faster for me.

But these are still very much work in progress and I can’t say for sure if they will end up working for me for a long time, but one thing that I can say is I will always try to reduce my time invested in the long term by making a lot of optimizations changes in the short term.

I know all these sounds very vague, so if you want to know more in-depth, reach out to me on my telegram group 😏 [Linked below]

Business Updates

Now coming to the sad part of the blog,

I wasn’t able to take time out this week for sending cold emails 😫

Which makes me wonder πŸ€” If I don’t have the time for sending out cold emails, How will I work on other projects when I get a reply from them? 😨

Thoughts from the past week

Having a time tracking system like rescuetime is great. You don’t always have to look at it but at times when you decide to piece your life back, you can always take a look at your behavioral trend and from there, piece out an actionable plan that will work for you.

Opinions

This is something that I have been thinking about for a long time now and I am glad I was finally able to tweet it out, but I think the way I put it into words might be confusing or even incorrect grammatically, but anyway, what I mean is that

we will end up rebelling or going against the information that is being fed to us, so if you are someone who consumes, let’s say β€œComedy nights with Kapil” and you feel like you can’t speak against a lot of the ideas that is being portrayed in the show, Guess what?

Nobody cares! Why?

People have already spoken against and wasted their time and it is what I call β€œdated demons.”

If it has existed for a while, even after backlashes, chances are it’s going to stay and the energy that you spend speaking against it is wasted, energy which you could have used to fuel your other areas of life, which could have made you a lot of money and then you could have bought Kapil sharma and his da…..

Daredevil

Not only did I finish season 2, but I also ended up finishing season 3 as well 😌

A lot of my week was spent finishing daredevil and honestly, this is the reason why the blog is delayed XD

I was supposed to finish the blog on Sunday evening but guess what happened?

I ended up binge-watching S3 non-stop from afternoon to almost midnight.

Not much of a binge-watcher, but I gotta say it felt really interesting, and the plot was good enough to keep me hooked.

I don’t know what else to write about it. I loved the show and would love another season but I am more than fine with not having another season since s3 was just so good.

When season 3 came out in 2018, I decided not to watch it because I was busy making memes and did not have any free time.

Now that I have rewatched the entire show, I am glad I did not watch it back then because I don’t think I would have been able to enjoy it as much as I did now with all my understanding of writing, acting, and editing.

Poverty, I realized, wasn’t only a lack of financial resources; it was isolation from the kind of people who could help you make more of yourself.” - Keith Ferrazzi
